The television show that I would consider art is New Girl. In my opinion, New Girl is one of the best shows ever created which is why I would consider it art! New girl is a sitcom, comedy show created by Elizabeth Meriwether. It was released in September of 2011 and continued until 2018. The producers have created 7 seasons of the show. The cast consists of Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone, Lamorne Morris, and Damon Wayans Jr.Critic Hamre (n.d.) breaks down the storyline and the character roles as “Jess, a bubbly, off-beat teacher, who is known to burst into song, catches her boyfriend with another woman. Newly homeless, she moves into a loft with three single guys she’s never met before. Nick, a jaded, law-school dropout isn’t the best of company. Schmidt is a flashy, eccentric businessman who believes he is Yahweh’s gift to women. Winston is a former athlete who doesn’t know what to do, but really needs a win. Can this dysfunctional group handle the adorkable new girl?”.I think this television program is art because the actors in the show are so incredibly talented in their roles which leads to the creation of art out of the show. The actors are truly talented human beings who have a gift to share with others. They create a strong emotional response out of you when you watch the show. They make me laugh, they make me cry, and they make me want more, all of which I feel when I experience other art forms. I believe this show impacts the viewers lives by spreading love, positivity, and laughter. The show is witty, quirky, sweet, endearing, and makes you laugh your tail off. Movie critic Tara Aquino (2013) says New Girl was influenced by the television show Friends. It isn’t a carbon copy but the shows share common themes and character roles. Zooey Deschanel , who is the main character of the show, mentions “I always liked making people laugh and it probably came out of being awkward in elementary school” (Youtube, 2013).
